Scar management

Scar management is often overlooked in the recovery process, even though it can play an important role in how the body moves and feels long after surgery.

Many people are told their healing is "complete" once their incision closes, but lingering tightness, pulling, sensitivity and seemingly unrelated aches, like back and shoulder pain, can sometimes be connected to underlying scar restrictions. Addressing scars with a guided approach can help to support more comfortable movement and overall recovery.

I will assess all the factors that contribute to your particular situation, and apply skilled therapeutic interventions to mitigate pain and limitations you may be experiencing.

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with in-depth knowledge of the body. I use specialized evaluations and manual techniques to diagnose and treat various types of injuries and disabilities. The goal of treatment is to optimize movement, restore functional abilities and improve your quality of life.

Our customized and individualized physiotherapy sessions include an analysis of your body’s unique movement patterns to identify dysfunctions in joint mechanics and muscle imbalances. Once a comprehensive assessment is completed, I will prescribe therapeutic exercises, perform manual therapy, provide essential education about your individual body. I will also teach you how to restore mobility and independence by maximizing strength, movement and function.
